Schematic Design Services –
To develop schematic designs, we work together to create a design plan. I use a collaborative approach where the client is engaged at multiple points in the design process. This ensures that the final design is exactly what you want.
An important aspect of the design process that designers sometimes overlook is understanding how you live and how you envision using the space. We discuss not only the space’s desired function but also how you want to feel in it. Adhering to your vision, I consider the site features, such as light and views, and constraints, such as zoning and noise, to develop design options.
The final design package includes a plan layout, multiple views of the space, notes about potential construction issues, alternative design approaches, if needed, and general specifications and design considerations for the builder.
‘Second Opinion’ Services –
For clients already working with an architect or design/builder, I can help you review their plans to find improvements – be it better use of space, simplification of construction or cost management. Depending on your needs, my review can be as expansive or as targeted as you want. I am also available to collaborate with, and iterate designs with, your architect or builder.
An important first step in this process is for me to understand what you want from the space, as well as how you want the space to make you feel. Together we discuss your vision and any shortcomings you see in the existing design.
I review the proposed plans for adherence to your priorities, considering site attributes and constraints, and think outside the box for alternative designs that might better achieve your goals.
